Welcome Back Drap actually started out as Bring Back Drap—a grass-roots Kickstarter campaign hatched in a creative pit, in the late January evening hours, by two (probably slightly crusty) designers (Jeremy Lanningham and myself). Our goal was pretty simple: Wake up the creative community and give designers a much-needed shot in the arm after an extended and seemingly harsh winter.
We planned into the early hours, burned up the white board, built out assets, budgeted and devised a plan to bring back the big man, Aaron James Draplin. The campaign launched online and from that point we committed ourselves to the end goal. We met regularly to divide and conquer design assets, and synced up to lock down venue and promotional needs. We got a lot of support from local Agencies, design shops, freelancers and students and Drap made it back.
