This was a personal project I agreed to take on for my wife’s sister and fiancé. It was a first stab at creating a wedding invitation, reception and RSVP card set. They wanted a classic letterpress-style design that could be printed quickly and efficiently (but not look too overworked), reflected a working class style, but still showed a level of elegance and design that spoke to their personalities.
After rounds of research and sketching, I narrowed down the layout and type style to match the wedding aesthetic. As a focal point, I included small illustrative elements to add special meaning to the project — the two inter-connected hearts represent Chelsea and Ken’s union, and also included three smaller hearts below to represent Ken’s daughters role in the ceremony. Each illustrative and type element was carefully lined up and balanced within all three pieces.
